A new backsplash and better lighting in a Phoenix kitchen can make the room feel finished. Maybe your backsplash is a strip of old tile, a painted wall that's stained behind the stove, or nothing at all. Maybe the only light is one fixture in the middle of the ceiling, so you're always working in your own shadow. We install backsplashes, floating shelves and new kitchen lighting, on their own or as part of a remodel.

It's a smaller job with a big result.

When You Need Backsplash & Lighting

A backsplash protects the wall behind your counters and stove from water, grease and splatter. If yours is stained, cracked, missing or just dated, it's an easy upgrade with a big payoff. New counters are another good time to do it, since the old backsplash rarely fits the new top.

For lighting, the signs are dark counters, shadows where you cut and prep, and a kitchen that feels gloomy even with the light on. Recessed lights spread light evenly across the room and over the counters.

It also helps to plan the backsplash and lighting together. Under-cabinet and recessed lights show off tile, and a light-colored backsplash bounces more light across the counters. Thinking about both at once gives you a brighter kitchen than doing either one alone.

Our Backsplash & Lighting Process

We start by looking at the walls, outlets and existing lighting, and talking through tile choices. We've installed full-height backsplashes, glass mosaic, grey brick-mosaic and subway tile in Phoenix kitchens. Floating shelves are another popular addition, and we've built LED-lit floating wood shelves over a mosaic backsplash.

For lighting, we plan where light is needed and coordinate the electrical with a licensed partner. In one hickory kitchen we built a new tray ceiling with recessed lights and a fan, which made the whole room brighter. Tile goes up after the counters are in, so the lines meet cleanly. A backsplash on its own is a short job, and your estimate lists the schedule.

A good backsplash layout puts the cut pieces in corners and behind appliances, not in the middle of the wall, and outlet covers should sit flush with the new tile.

If you're adding floating shelves, plan them with the tile, so the supports go in first and the shelves sit tight to the wall.

Backsplash & Lighting Cost in Phoenix

Backsplash cost depends on the tile you choose, the square footage, and how many outlets and windows the tile has to cut around. Mosaic and full-height backsplashes take more labor than a standard height. Lighting cost depends on how many fixtures you add and what the ceiling and wiring allow.

Your estimate is free, written and itemized, so there are no surprises and no hidden fees.

A backsplash is one of the smaller kitchen projects, which makes it a good way to update the room if a full remodel isn't in the budget yet. We'll price it on its own or alongside new counters, whichever you prefer.
