Scottsdale runs from historic Old Town up to Kierland Commons on Scottsdale Road, and we remodel homes all along that stretch. Whether you want a bigger shower, a kitchen with an island or one floor through the whole house, we do that work with our own crew, and the owner comes out to measure, usually within about two days.

Around Scottsdale

Scottsdale takes its name from its founder, Winfield Scott, a retired U.S. Army chaplain, and was named in 1894. It was incorporated in 1951 with about 2,000 people, and its slogan is "The West's Most Western Town." Scott's original land is where historic Old Town is now.

The city runs a long way north and south. Scottsdale Fashion Square is on Camelback Road at 7014 East, and McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is on Indian Bend Road. Up north, Kierland Commons is on Scottsdale Road, and Taliesin West is on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.

Permits for Remodeling in Scottsdale

The City of Scottsdale's permit services page is clear about it: for single-family homes, permits are required to move walls and to add electrical or plumbing features. Smaller projects may not need a permit at all, and some only need an administrative plan review.

So a kitchen where we take out a wall for an island, or a bathroom where we add a second sink, will need a permit in Scottsdale. New cabinets in the same spot, or new tile and paint, generally won't. We'll walk through it with you before your estimate is written.

If the remodel moves walls or adds electrical or plumbing, yes. The City of Scottsdale says permits are required for single-family homes to move walls and add electrical or plumbing features.
